Photo Essay - Skatepark Wall Building

The building of the $81,900 skatepark wall has begun.

The wall is being built with hopes to keep the sound of the skateboarders from getting out of the park and disturbing the neighbors.

Todd J Grant, Public Works Deputy Director, Saint Augustine, "we hope to finish the project by Christmas, so that the parents and kids can enjoy the park during their time off from school."

After months of neighborhood complaints and court appearances claiming that the city sound ordinance is in violation, a compromise has been reached, at a 12 foot concrete wall.

Workers arrived this morning at nine, November 30th, to begin the building. Today, they are ripping up sidewalks, moving benches and creating a monster wall.
